Wanna show some folders on your Ubuntu desktop? Here’s how.
- Launch the Terminal (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal).
- Type gconf-editor (note: do not type “sudo gconf-editor” as then you will be making the changes to the root user’s desktop, which you do not want)
- Navigate to apps -> nautilus -> desktop and simply check the icon(s) that you want shown on your desktop. They should appear immediately.
- Your new icons appear on your desktop. Good job! Now back to more important things, like installing sweet themes.
